About the speaker:

Cathy Kavassalis is a dedicated gardener and conservationist, blending her experience as a scientist and educator to promote biodiversity and sustainable living. As an inspirational speaker and educator, Cathy endeavors to ignite interest and respect for our living environment. She co-founded the Canadian Coalition for Invasive Plant Regulation (CCIPR.ca) and is an active member of the Halton Master Gardeners, reflecting her commitment to combating invasive species and fostering ecological balance. Cathy's leadership roles include serving as the past president of the Oakville Horticultural Society and as a former member of the Board of Directors for the Royal Botanical Garden. Her dedication to gardening is showcased in her own eclectic and organic gardens, which have been featured on several tours. Through her work, Cathy aims to inspire a harmonious relationship with nature, emphasizing the importance of conservation and sustainable practices in everyday life.
