With spring comes the planting of new crops but the abundance of food in Canada has led us to dismiss its intrinsic value as a source of life-giving nutrition. At the same time, millions of Canadians – including 1.4 million children – struggle to access healthy food. There is a way forward, but we need to start by radically re-thinking how we value food at each stage of the supply chain.

Join Krish Thayalan, Manager, Education & Training at Second Harvest, to learn more about the issue of food waste in Canada and how we can all play a part in eliminating this issue so that all Canadians have access to healthy food.

Krish Thayalan is the Manager, Education & Training at Second Harvest based out of Toronto. Krish hails from a nutrition and public health background, where he focused on the impacts of healthy eating environments, food justice, and food systems on nutrition outcomes. With this background, he now promotes Second Harvest’s 3 pillars of: food waste prevention, food safety, and food literacy. Krish’s interests lie in the intersection between environmental sustainability and health promotion, feeding perfectly into Second Harvest’s dual vision of “No waste, No hunger.”
