What exactly is all the buzz around ChatGPT and AI, and what does it all mean? Join professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Dr. John Femiani for a conversation about the evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) from machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning to the present generative AI and large language models. Dr. Femiani will chat with Professor Emeritus, Dr. Jim Kiper about how developments in generative AI advance on our previous AI systems, Other topics will include how GPT is distinct from ChatGPT, and how this generative AI can be used in image recognition, a primary focus of Dr. Femiani’s work.
Dr. John Femiani is a professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Miami University. Dr. Femiani's recent research includes image editing using generative models, and the use of language modeling for enhanced image understanding. He has published extensively in top-tier academic journals and presented at prestigious conferences around the world. Dr. Femiani has received several awards and accolades for his contributions to the field, including the Late Sydney R. Parker Best Paper Award in the area of Signal Processing and the M. N. S.
