Miami alumni and friends are encouraged to join Miami's Associate Vice President and Dean of Students, Dr. Kimberly Moore, and Assistant Vice President for Health & Wellness, Dr. Steve Large, to discuss who today’s college students are, who they will be, and how parents can best support them along the way. Kimberly and Steve will review trends about student preparedness and readiness for college in addition to the important implications of student wellbeing and mental health. Participants will leave this session with some interesting data and helpful tips for parents of past, present, and future students.

Dr. Kimberly Moore serves as Miami's Associate Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students. In this role, Dr. Moore leads the Office of the Dean of Students and oversees Residence Life, Community Standards, Rinella Learning Center, and the Miller Center for Student Disability Services. Prior to her current role, she served in multiple roles at Loyola University Chicago for fourteen years, focusing on advocacy, support, and care for students.  Moore has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, a Master’s in Education in Higher Education from Loyola University Chicago, and a Doctorate in Education and Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University.  Her interest and research focus on student retention, persistence, and student success. Moore is dedicated to the field of student affairs and works to create opportunities for students to engage fully in campus life and ultimately thrive during their time in college.

Dr. Steve Large serves as Miami’s assistant vice president for student health and wellness. In this role, Steve provides leadership to Student Counseling Service, Student Health Services, and the Office of Student Wellness. Prior to joining Miami, Steve held leadership roles at the University of Dayton and, more recently, at Gannon University, where he led the successful integration of a combined health and counseling services department.  Steve is a licensed clinical psychologist and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from John Carroll University and his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Wright State University. Outside of work, Steve enjoys all aspects of real estate and spending time with his aggressively friendly dog, Joey.
