For our next installment of our #DuqAlumniInsights series, we'll hear from Greg Kirstein, L'82, as he shares his expertise on breaking into the sports industry.

Greg Kirstein has devoted almost 30 years to bringing professional hockey to Columbus, the last 20 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets. With a core group of visionaries, Mr. Kirstein has also been a catalyst in the construction of nine ice rinks and the formation of some 25 high school teams and youth programs. He has served as President of the Chiller LLC ice rink company, Secretary of the Blue Jackets’ Foundation and an Adjunct Professor of Sports Law at Ohio State.

A graduate of Ohio State’s Journalism School and Duquesne’s Law School, Mr. Kirstein received Business First’s Top Corporate Counsel Award in 2012, Duquesne Law School’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2016 and the 2017 Outstanding Alumnus Award from Ohio State’s Stadium Honors Dorm. He has been a member of Duquesne's Alumni Board of Governors since 2017. He was inducted in 2018 into Bethel Park School District’s Great Alumni Hall of Fame.

During this one-hour session, moderated by Michela Hall, A'19, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions as time permits. Michela completed her bachelor’s degree in Sports Media and Information from Duquesne University in 2019. During her undergraduate career she was a field reporter for Pittsburgh Hockey Now at the time it was broadcast through The CW Pittsburgh. She is currently continuing her education as a graduate student at Duquesne, obtaining an MFA focusing in Media Arts and Technology. Michela serves as the President of Duquesne Student Television which produces student-run film projects and media outreach for other student organizations.
