The DEI Council of the WKU Alumni Association PresentsF
FORUM FOR US
An Introduction to Unconscious Bias
With Lacretia ‘Cre’ Dye Ph.D.

This is the first session of three in the WKU Alumni Association Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council's fall 2021 series, Forum for Us, with an introduction to implicit bias. Implicit, or unconscious, bias is described as attitudes we have towards people or the stereotypes we associate with them without our explicit intent. Dr. Dye set her presentation goals as, "Participants will take an active and internal investigation of individual and collective attitudes, memories, and beliefs through varied channels of experience. Expect to achieve both short-term (greater motivation for racial and cultural re-imagination, adoption of contemplative practices to support the change process) and long-term outcomes (as participants return to their respective educational/leadership spaces)."

About Dr. Dye
Dr. Dye is an Associate Professor in the WKU Department of Counseling and Student Affairs. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a National Certified Counselor, Dr. Dye has served her local, regional and national community with heart, mind and body wellness for over 20 years.
