Cadet 1st Class Jamie Landy is majoring in political science with an international relations focus and Latin American studies. His undergraduate research on China-Latin America relations and civil-military relations in Latin America has taken him all over the western hemisphere, conducting field research in Panama, Colombia and Guatemala. During the 2021-22 academic year, he received the Dean of the Faculty Award for Outstanding Cadet Research. He also was named a Truman Scholar.

Landy was named the 43rd Rhodes Scholar from the U.S. Air Force Academy last fall. With the scholarship, he will pursue his master’s degree in international relations at Oxford University. He hopes to engage with the question of how U.S. security cooperation with partner nations affects respect for human rights. The Washington, D.C., native will serve as a U.S. Air Force intelligence officer after he graduates from Oxford.

In his free time, Landy has competed on the Air Force Academy triathlon team, explored the Rocky Mountains with classmates, and he enjoys reading historical fiction.
