Samara Bay, bestselling author and sought-after public speaking coach for CEOs, Hollywood stars, and political movers-and-shakers, will hold a live conversation with Skidmore Professor Joseph Cermatori (English Department) about her debut book, Permission to Speak (Penguin Random House, 2023), to talk about what our voice says about us, what speaking in public is, and what it can be. Bay writes the Substack-featured publication How to Show Up, where she offers advice on authenticity, visibility, self-promotion, and leadership. Her visit is scheduled to coincide with Prof. Cermatori’s current English department seminar “EN 228 Public Speech” and will feature curated questions from current Skidmore students about her writing, her coaching, and how we can use our voices to get what we want.

This webinar is proudly sponsored by Skidmore College's Office of Advancement, Department of English, Department of Theater, Department of Management and Business, Department of Politics, Program in Arts Administration, and the Periclean Honors Forum.
