Russian President Putin’s war on Ukraine has suddenly plunged the world into an unstable security and economic posture, creating the largest refugee crisis since World War II. Three outstanding speakers share their perspectives.

Congressman John Kline (R—MN Ret.) is a 25-year veteran of the Marines and decorated combat helicopter pilot, who carried the nuclear football and was senior military aide for Presidents Carter and Reagan. He was a member of the House Armed Forces Committee and served on the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities. He also chaired the Committee on Education and the Workforce during his years in Congress.

Congressman David Loebsack (D—IA Ret.) is a former political science professor at Cornell College in Iowa. He served on the same committees as Cong. Kline. On the Armed Forces Committee, he was on the Subcommittee on Readiness and Subcommittee on Military Personnel. He was in Ukraine just before he left Congress last year.

Nadia Blonsky Johnson, Rockford, IL, Licensed Clinical Professional and President of the Illinois Mental Health Council, was born in a Displaced Persons’ camp in Germany in 1946. Her parents were born in Ukraine and escaped Stalin’s terror by walking to Poland, where a few years later Hitler pressed them into forced labor in Germany. Nadia’s mother survived a concentration camp. In 1949, Nadia, her brother, and parents came to America on a US Navy transport ship.
