We're turning the orange spotlight on successful OSU alumni to share their experiences and expertise with the Cowboy Family!

Join us for this month's Orange Spotlight is with OSU alumnae, Traci Walton and Brittney Matlock, who will share the unique story of how PLENTY Mercantile went from a class project business plan to reality and continues to grow. The duo will also showcase some of their apparel/merchandise and offer great gift ideas for Mother’s Day.

About Brittney & Traci

Traci Walton and Brittney Matlock are the mother-daughter duo behind PLENTY. Traci has a long history of successful entrepreneurial endeavors as well as a love of hospitality and creating warm and welcoming spaces. She is an avid gardener and has built and maintained the gardens on the Rooftop of The Venue at PLENTY. Traci currently chairs the Automobile Alley Board where the flagship PLENTY is located in Downtown Oklahoma City and serves on the BID board.

Brittney is the oldest of Traci's 5 children and was graduating from Oklahoma State right as Traci was sending back Brittney's younger siblings to traditional school after homeschooling them for several years. (Needless to say, Traci was fearless after that!) Brittney had been studying Entrepreneurship and Marketing in the Spears School of Business as one of the first in the EEE program. She quickly became equally enthralled with the world of sustainability and the powerful role business can play within it, so she pursued a Sustainable Studies Certificate with an Emphasis in Design before graduating in 2012. While on campus, Brittney was President of ECO-OSU (the campuses largest environmental organization) and VP of Operations of Entrepreneurship Club. These two simultaneous roles proved the power of activism and commerce working in unison. They certified the campus with the National Arbor Day Foundation and helped usher in a new administrative position to steward sustainability on campus. Brittney has carried this experience and education into her role at PLENTY.

Traci and Brittney have fostered a team of incredible individuals who have allowed PLENTY to grow into what it is today. Together they are looking forward to the launch of the Airport store, their own wholesale line, and the PLENTY blog launching very soon.

About Plenty Mercantile & Venue

PLENTY Mercantile and Venue exist to champion sustainability and hospitality by mindfully sourcing refined goods and fostering memorable gatherings. Founded in 2012, the company has stayed true to their triple bottom line of people, profit and planet by purchasing from other for-profit makers making wise decisions in the fabrication or impact of their material goods. From housekeeping products to kids toys to lighting to jewelry, every product PLENTY sources and stocks has a thread of sustainable development or positive social impact while also being high quality and beautifully executed in form. At PLENTY, your cents meet good sense! Find magical goods and gifts you never knew existed alongside nostalgic products you haven't seen since you were a kid that are still USA-made!

The store opened in Automobile Alley of Downtown Oklahoma City in 2012 and 6 months later debuted their rooftop and warehouse event venue attached to this flagship store. They've since opened two other brick-and-mortar store locations (Spring Creek Plaza and Chisholm Creek) and expanded into a robust online website, shipping all across the country and perfectly suited for in-store pickup or contactless curbside pickup. The event venue can be rented for private gatherings such as birthdays, weddings, graduation parties, baby showers, photoshoots and movie shoots. PLENTY also hosts their own workshops and classes at the venue such as Trivia Nights, Grazing Boards classes and Urban Gardening - these will return as soon as it's safe to do so! The Rooftop portion of the Venue was just fully renovated and now the entire building is run off solar power generated from the newly installed solar panels on the west side of the rooftop.

PLENTY Mercantile holds the title of Best Gift Shop in Oklahoma City for several years in a row, is a Metro Top 50 business, was named Best Gift Shop in Oklahoma in 2020, and has been cited in National Geographic and People Magazine as a place not to miss. Look for a PLENTY Mercantile in the soon-to-be-renovated Will Rogers Airport in Oklahoma City!
