Featuring Dr. George Smith, Nobel Prize winner

Bacteria tend to get a bad reputation because they can cause disease. But did you know that most bacteria don't cause disease and don't deserve that bad rep? Bacteria are everywhere and have positive and negative impacts on almost everything from agriculture to sustainability and human health. We will discuss how small but mighty bacteria impact our everyday lives (for example, food and beverage production--especially anything fermented!) and touch on some of the bacteria-centric research being done at MU.
