Between sips, Phil shared a bit of bourbon’s fascinating history and shares critical information that can be found just by closely reading your bourbon bottle’s label.

During the evening, Phil showed us how to get the most out of your bourbon pours including tips for preparing the palette and engaging the senses. Between sips, Phil shared a bit of bourbon’s fascinating history and let us know what critical information can be found just by closely reading your bourbon bottle’s label.

We’ll also took some time to bust several commonly held myths about America’s popular native spirit (for example, did you know that bourbon can be made anywhere in the United States? Not just Kentucky). Bring your curiosity and your whiskey glass. We promise you will learn something new about bourbon and maybe even discover a favorite new whiskey in the process!

Below is the list of bourbons we will be tasting and other supplies Phil recommends:

  • Maker’s Mark Bourbon
  • Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon (If you cannot find this Old Forester 86 Proof will work!)
  • Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon
  • A rocks glass or similar bar ware glass along with some ice.
  • A handful of jelly beans, starburst or other chewy candy.
  • Whatever other garnishes or mixes that YOU prefer to use while enjoying your whiskey
