Join us virtually for Winter College – five days of lunchtime lectures capped off with culinary celebrations on Charter Day. All fun and no exams means this is the collegiate experience of your dreams.

Farmer School of Business professors David Yin and Gordon Wright join us for a special presentation on pay in corporate leadership  They will present data over the past three decades on:

  • The level of CEO and other top executive compensation across firms and industries
  • The changing composition of pay
  • The strength of executive incentives

Discussion will include the reasons behind different compensation practices, why a one-size-fits-all solution does not work, and whether high levels of executive compensation are justified.

Finally, they will do a deeper dive on Procter & Gamble's executive compensation practices and compare / contrast with broader industry trends.

Gordon Wright joined the Farmer Finance Department as the Herbert E. Markley Visiting Executive Professor in 2022, following a 36-year Finance & Accounting career at Procter & Gamble. He retired from P&G in September 2021, as the Senior Vice President for Corporate Finance. Gordon held this role for 15 years. He was responsible for the Company's profit forecasting, strategic planning, overhead budget management, and various governance activities, including Board of Directors reporting and incentive compensation management.

David Yin, Ph.D. is a financial economist and the Frank H. Jellinek Jr. Endowed Assistant Professor at Miami University. Dr. Yin teaches corporate finance and researches executive compensation, corporate governance, institutional investors, and stock market behaviors.  His research is cited in Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, New York Times, and Forbes, and presented in front of the United States House of Representatives and Fair Trade Commission to help shape policies.

The event is free to attend, but registration is required. This will be a live event only - a recording will not be available.  Questions? Contact J.J. Slager at slagerjj@miamioh.edu.
