In the late 1960’s, Rick Ludwin attended Miami University, where he developed a love for live television that set him on a path which would ultimately lead him to a highly successful career in broadcasting, and an executive position at NBC. Join us for a look at Ludwin’s exciting career, and see signed television scripts, memorabilia from Bob Kennedy and Mike Douglas’ television talk shows, materials from the many projects Ludwin worked on for NBC, Studio 14 recordings, and more.
Presenting Rick's story is Candace Pine, the Rare Books and Manuscripts Librarian at Miami University's Walter Havighurst Special Collections and University Archives. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing from Western Michigan University, and later received her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University. In her current position, she focuses on cataloging rare books, as well as processing manuscript collections that are donated to the archives, particularly from some notable alumni such as Gene Krebs, Paul Ryan, and Rick Ludwin. Her professional interests also include amplifying the voices of people from traditionally underrepresented communities in archives, as well as finding ways to incorporate DEI principles into the everyday workings of libraries and archives.
