During good times and bad, solving crossword puzzles can be both a great recreational diversion as well as a way to keep your mind sharp. In this webinar, Dr. Jeffrey Wanko discusses some of the history of crossword puzzles and the various benefits of solving crossword puzzles. He dives into the various types of themes that are used by crossword designers and explores some new ideas. The resources section includes a collection of New York Times crossword puzzles. You are encouraged to work on these before (although it is not necessary) as Dr. Wanko used these as examples in his presentation. Watch the webinar with a sharp pencil and a sharp mind as we explored the History and Future of Crossword Puzzles! Dr. Jeffrey Wanko is an associate provost and professor of mathematics education at Miami University. He is also the author of two books and numerous articles on using logic puzzles to help students develop their deductive and inductive reasoning skills.
