Join us for a special presentation as Miami professor, Dr. Tammie L. Gerke, presents National Parks - All You Ever Wanted to Know and More. She will share information of the national parks system, how to choose the parks to visit, different ways to visit the parks, and some beautiful images and facts on a few of the national parks. Let her help plan your next adventurous trip!

Dr. Tammie L. Gerke is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Geology and Environmental Earth Science and the Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. Dr. Gerke has taught geology and environmental sciences for approximately 20 years. She has an active research program that utilized the synchrotron radiation source at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratories in Argonne IL. Her research focuses on the effects of corrosion of drinking water pipes on water quality, corrosion of historic shipwrecks, and geoarchaeology. She has and continues to provide undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in these research projects and is the faculty advisor for the MUM Geology Club. Dr. Gerke has presented lectures series with the Gardner Harvey Library on Miami's Middletown campus on national parks for the last five and half years. Her series this fall will focus on three of the five newest national parks and she will be presenting on her work at the 6th century BCE temple of Apollonia in Albania.
