Please join us to celebrate the 14th cohort of Miami students to complete the Residency Program with the Miami University Center for Community Engagement in Over-the-Rhine!  This year, we’ve invited a small live audience of community partners to join the eight Residency Program students from the College of Education, Health and Society, Miami Urban Cohort, and Architecture + Interior Design to share their experiences and reflect on their time in the program.

The Residency Program is an immersive, interdisciplinary program with students from a variety of majors living, studying, and collaborating in an urban setting marked by the extremes of gentrification and disinvestment. Invited and hosted by community-based organizations and community schools, Miami students work closely with the residents of the neighborhood to find that it defies the common narratives about urban space, Black space, and civic redevelopment.

Often a highlight of their undergraduate experience, the Residency Program students receive a teaching placement, community placement, or community design studio that facilitates practical, real-world engagement within their areas of expertise.  By combining collaboration with the community, advocacy, and education & engagement, it’s the lasting personal connections made between students and community members that makes the semester so resonant.

This virtual event is free to attend, but registration is required.
