The digital age has brought about unprecedented access to information, but, as the saying goes, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Once the gatekeepers of information, librarians are now empowering members of the Miami University community to become their own information gatekeepers. Learn about how this timely and crucial topic is being addressed in order to shape responsible scholars and engaged citizens. You will also come away with a few helpful tips of your own to navigate in this era of uncertainty. Led by Jaclyn Spraetz, Information Literacy Librarian and Nate Floyd, Student Success Librarian for Foundational Learning. Jaclyn Spraetz is an Information Literacy Librarian at Miami University. She promotes information literacy on campus and supports faculty and students through research design, instruction, and online materials. Her goals include finding new ways to engage faculty and students in information literacy outreach programs and supporting liaison librarians in their instruction. Nate Floyd is Student Success Librarian for Foundational Learning. He supports the student transition from high school to college with a focus on integrating research skills and information literacy into the first-year student curriculum. He also serves as the subject liaison to the Department of Emerging Technology in Business + Design. The Miami University Libraries can be found at: https://www.lib.miamioh.edu/
