Science Stories: A Science Communication Speaker Series
is a partnership between The School of Interdisciplinary Science and the McMaster Alumni Association. The goal of the series is to showcase the important role of science writers, illustrators and photojournalists in society. This role is especially important at a time when so much of our media coverage centers on science topics.

This winter the McMaster community is pleased to welcome guest speaker Chris Gunn, a photographer who specializes in space-tech, science, and engineering.

Chris Gunn is currently the lead photographer for NASA’s flagship mission, the James Webb Space Telescope and has been embedded in the project for the last 10 years.

Chris Gunn is a photographer who specializes in space-tech, science and engineering. His images artistically portray science, technology and innovators. His photographs of the James Webb Space Telescope and associated technologies have appeared in National Geographic, Wired Magazine, Popular Science and The New York Times, and have been featured on NASA’s social media channels as part of the agency’s science communications efforts. In addition to his role at NASA, Chris has worked on assignments for the National Institute of Health, the Department of Energy, Scientific American, and other publications.
