Tasting Tips with Tracey Dobbin

During this hour-long session, Tracey will guide you through a tasting of 5 classic grape varieties. Through the tasting, she will demystify the common terms used to describe different wine styles, and will give helpful tips on how to taste and describe the various components in the glass. She will also give some basics tips for food and wine pairing.

The varieties that will be covered:
Sauvignon Blanc
Chardonnay
Riesling
Pinot Noir
Cabernet Sauvignon

Note: You don’t need wine to enjoy this session. However, if you would like to taste along, you can use any or all of the wines above. Wines from any region will work. Please note, however, that the Riesling should have some residual sugar/sweetness.

If you want to participate in the food and wine pairing exercises, these are the items to have on hand:
Salt
A slice of lemon
A piece of hard cheese
A sweet biscuit
Something spicy (such as wasabi paste)
