Labelled “Canada’s Best and Busiest Ghostwriter”, John Lawrence Reynolds (Mac ’74) has worked with many of Canada’s most prominent politicians, business executives and celebrities over his long career as an author. Among them: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, former federal finance ministers Michael Wilson and Bill Morneau, Manitoba NDP leader Wab Kinew, former federal fisheries minister and Newfoundland Premier Brian Tobin, labour leader Buzz Hargrove, former Air Canada CEO Robert Milton, Shark Tank and Dragon’s Den panelist Robert Herjavec (three books), and a host of others.

In addition, he has written and published multiple non-fiction works and a dozen mystery novels, winning three Arthur Ellis Awards and a National Business Book Award along the way.

What’s involved in crafting another individual’s life and career in his or her own voice? Why do we even need ghostwriters? What are the pitfalls and rewards? John provides the answers – and a few colourful anecdotes – based on his experiences over the years. He even offers a seven-step guideline to succeeding at a career in ghostwriting, for those who may be tempted.
