The Power of Inclusive Excellence

"A commitment to inclusive excellence is a commitment to building equitable structures. It's a commitment to making sure that people have access to the resources, to the supports and to the opportunities that they really need to flourish” – Clare Warner, senior advisor, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism.

In 2019, McMaster committed to move Towards Inclusive Excellence with a new EDI strategy. As we celebrate McMaster's first Day of Giving, join us for an enlightening and engaging conversation that will highlight tremendous strides forward, along with distances yet to be covered with two alumni and student pairings that contrast past and present perspectives. Joining us, Mariette Sutherland '90, the first student president of the First Nations Student Association and Sage Hartmann, '22 current president of CISSA, The Cooperative of Indigenous Students Studies & Alumni as well as Ashleigh Montague '15, former McMaster African Student Association member and Anuoluwa Popoola '23, current vice-president, Black Aspiring Physicians at McMaster will share their perspectives and unique experiences, along with their aspirations for future students. Clare Warner, senior advisor, Equity Inclusion & Anti-Racism and Shylo Elmayan, director, Indigenous Student Services, will add context to these first-hand accounts and share steps McMaster is taking toward building a brighter, more equitable future for all students, staff, and faculty at McMaster.
