Spring is here and what better way to enjoy the season than by adding some gardening into your life.

Don’t have a green thumb? We have a herb for that!

Join us for a talk with Sheila Gutierrez of Green Venture who will discuss the myriad benefits of gardening, both on the body and the mind. She’ll lead us through a talk on growing herbs as a great way to start on a gardening journey, as herbs can be part of an outdoor garden or simply grown indoors. Sheila will discuss which herbs can be grown indoors and will cover cultivation, soils/growing mediums, containers, and how to harvest your bounty. As an advocate of gardening, Sheila will share Green Venture’s resources on home gardening or being part of/starting a community garden. As a seasoned gardener or those wanting to take first steps into the wonderful world of gardening, tune in to learn more

About the speaker: Sheila Gutierrez's hobby and professional career centers on growing flowers and food in gardens around Hamilton. The Hamilton resident graduated from the University of California Irvine with a degree in psychology and social behavior and graduated from Niagara College's post-graduate environmental management and assessment program.

Gutierrez is working to create a more resilient community through her work as garden program coordinator at Green Venture providing opportunities for Hamilton's to engage with their food systems. She is also a master gardener in training with Halton Master gardeners, who work in a volunteer capacity to provide sustainable horticultural advice to the gardening public. This gardener is eager to continue to share her passion for gardening with folks in the greater Hamilton area.
