2020 has been a tough year for us all, but it has been especially challenging for our children. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to school disruptions, parental unemployment, increased anxiety to child care closures, aggravated inequities in education, and disrupted college and university life. Join Furman alumni Joe Waters '05 and Lindsey Walker Waters '07 as they discuss the generational impacts of the pandemic on children from cradle to career.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:

Joe Waters '05 is the co-founder and CEO of Capita. A nonprofit ideas lab, Capita works at the intersections of research, policy, social innovation, design, and the arts to explore how the great cultural and social transformations of our day affect children and their families, and to foster a future in which all people flourish. Prior to starting Capita, Joe was the Executive Vice President of the Institute for Child Success. His commentary on issues facing America’s families has been published by Investor’s Business Daily, The Hill, Stanford Social Innovation Review, The State, The Charlotte Observer, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and other outlets. Joe graduated from Furman University (BA, History) and earned a master’s degree in divinity from Duke University.
