#FurmanAtHome: An Unusual Approach at Furman’s Past

Join us for a special #FurmanAtHome presentation with Dr. Courtney Tollison '99. This engaging presentation will examine key moments in the university’s nearly 200-year history. It will highlight the more unusual aspects of Furman’s past, including its architecture, its three mascots, and of course, its most unusual initials.

Dr. Courtney Tollison is the Distinguished University Public Historian and Scholar at Furman University, where she has taught for nearly 17 years. As a 1999 graduate of Furman, the university’s history holds special interest for her. She is the Founding Director of the Furman University Oral History Project, served on the university’s Task Force on Slavery and Justice, and is active in efforts to not only present and preserve campus history, but also contextualize and design campus spaces.
