Please join us for a special presentation: "To Everything There Is a Season": Pete Seeger and the Power of Song.

Dr. Allan Winkler will share his expertise and his guitar to tell the story of the folk singer and social activist.  The presentation will recount Seeger's ability to use music on behalf of the labor movement, civil liberties, world peace, racial equality, and environmental justice.  Mixed in with the lecture are the songs that made Seeger famous.

"Allan Winkler's story is more than the tale of one man's journey.  It's the story of a nation and a world moving forward almost catching up to one guy with a banjo."
- Arlo Guthrie

Allan M. Winkler is University Distinguished Professor of History (Emeritus) at Miami University.  He has also taught at Yale University and the University of Oregon and, for one year each, at the University of Helsinki in Finland, the University of Amsterdam in The Netherlands, and the University of Nairobi in Kenya.  A prize-winning teacher, he has published eleven books of his own, and co-authored both a college textbook and an high school textbook in American History.  His latest book was “To Everything There Is a Season”: Pete Seeger and the Power of Song.  He is an avid mountain climber and also enjoys playing folk music in Oxford and elsewhere in the United States and abroad.
