Hear from the new dean of the College of Engineering and Computing!

Beena Sukumaran has an ambitious vision for Miami University’s College of Engineering and Computing. Recently appointed the new dean of the CEC, Sukumaran will share details on her vision during CEC update webinar on Nov. 12 at Noon EST.

Sukumaran comes to Miami after helping the Rowan University department of civil and environmental engineering move from a relatively unknown regional public university to one that is on everyone’s radar. She also worked to expand diversity and inclusion efforts on campus for faculty, staff and students.

During her tenure as chair and head, the department doubled undergraduate student enrollment “without sacrificing quality and has made it a highly competitive and sought-after program,” she wrote. She was also principal investigator of a $1.92 million National Science Foundation (NSF) grant, titled Revolutionizing Engineering Diversity, which looked at various strategies to enhance the diversity and success of the student population.
