Miami Presents: Women in Sports

Join the Miami University Alumni Association and Miami Athletics for a unique opportunity to hear from two Miami head coaches. Tune in for a live interview with Women’s Volleyball coach Carolyn Condit and Swimming and Diving coach, Hollie Bonewit-Cron on October 15 at 12:15 p.m. ET. This interview will be moderated by Jennie Gilbert, Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Associate Athletic Director - Senior Woman Administrator. Participants will have the chance to ask questions of both coaches.

With 40 years of head coaching experience in the bag, Miami Hall-of-Famer Carolyn Condit returns for her 37th season of leading the RedHawks. She enters the 2020 campaign having led Miami to the last four Mid-American Conference regular season championships in a row.

Owning more victories than any coach in the history of the Miami Athletic Department, Condit holds a 650-479 record over 36 seasons in charge of the Red and White. She became the first RedHawk to earn her 600th victory as a Miami coach with a 3-1 victory over Central Michigan on Oct. 13, 2017. Including her four seasons in charge of Xavier, Condit has over 700 wins, holding a career record of 749-557. She earned her 700th career victory on Oct. 14, 2017 with a 3-0 sweep of Eastern Michigan. Condit is the only volleyball coach in the history of the Mid-American Conference to win over 300 league matches, holding a conference mark of 355-210. Condit’s 749 total victories ranks tied for seventh among active NCAA Division I coaches, and tied for 22nd all-time.

Hollie Bonewit-Cron completed her fourth year as the head coach of Miami Swimming and Diving in 2019-20. Bonewit-Cron led the Miami men to a MAC Championship for the first time since 2006 at the 2019 MAC Championships. She was named MAC Swimming Coach of the Year for the first time at Miami. Bonewit-Cron became the first female head coach in conference history to lead a men's team to a conference championship.

Bonewit-Cron comes to Miami after a seven-year stint guiding the Nova Southeastern men's and women's teams, a program she built from the ground up since its first season of competition in 2010-11. Joining the NSU staff in 2009, she quickly developed the Shark program into a powerhouse with the men's team recently finishing fourth at the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championships. She also was named the Head Olympic Swim Coach for the country of Grenada where she coached NSU standout Esau Simpson to a new Grenadian National record at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

We are excited to continue this new series of Miami Athletics virtual events, presented monthly by the Miami University Alumni Association and Miami Athletics.
