The NCIS television series have been long-running primetime hits for CBS and two Miami alums have played huge roles in their success.
Join us for a special conversation, as Dr. Howard Kleiman interviews Supervising Producers, and his former students, Chris Molnar '04 and Richie Owens '95. The pair will give us a look at what goes into making police procedural television series NCIS (now in it's 19th season) and NCIS: Los Angeles (13th season) and will take your questions.

Chris Molnar '04 is a Supervising Producer on the CBS television action drama NCIS: Los Angeles. Aside from his TV work, he has co-produced a feature film, The Relationtrip (currently streaming on Hulu) and the web series We Don't Hate It Here. Previously Chris was an Associate Producer on the TNT series King & Maxwell (pilot) and Post Production Supervisor on NCIS, also on CBS. After studying Mass Communication at Miami University, Chris freelanced as an assistant editor in Cincinnati and worked on multiple independent feature films, including Dog Days of Summer. Chris is a member of the Producer's Guild of America.
Richie Owens '95 is a Supervising Producer on the CBS television series NCIS. He has been with the show since it first aired in 2003. He also worked in Post Production for the TV shows Providence and the original Roswell. Before his work in television, Richie worked for a commercial production company. He wrote, directed and edited a short film, Eddy that premiered at the IFS Los Angeles Film Festival. His film also showed at the Key West Film Festival and Camerimage International Film Festival among others. Richie studied Mass Communication at Miami University.
Dr. Howard Kleiman joined the Mass Communication program (now part of the Department of Media, Journalism and Film) in Miami’s Department of Communication and Theater in 1983. During his 37 year career at Miami, Howard served as the director of the Media and Culture program and as the acting department chair on two different occasions. He co-developed and led Miami’s Inside Washington and Inside Hollywood programs and also received the first faculty fellowship awarded by CNN and spent a summer at the network serving as a news writer and producer. Howard received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana, a master’s from Boston University and a doctorate from the University of Oregon.
