Miami Presents: Leveraging Innovative Technology to Solve National Security Needs

In an increasingly digital and interconnected world, national security innovation is more important than ever.  Please join CEC alumnae, Amanda Ryerse ‘18 for a fascinating conversation about the ever-changing landscape of safeguarding the nation and the pivotal role that cutting-edge technologies play in addressing the complex security challenges of modern times.  Fellow CEC alumnae, Mary Ellen Giffels ‘82 will chat with Amanda about some of these emerging technologies, collaborative solutions, and future trends in national security, as well as ethical implications and policy considerations that must be made when deploying advanced technologies.

Amanda Ryerse ‘18 earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering grad with a minor in Political Science.  After graduating, Amanda went to work as a cyber threat analyst for Booz Allen Hamilton.  Her work focused on analyzing and leveraging the techniques, tactics, and protocols of cyber threat actors, as well as the geopolitical climate to reduce Booz Allen Hamilton's cyber attack surface.  Amanda then went on to join Strategic Investor, IQT as a cyber product engineer, where she managed the technical development and product delivery of 18+ startup portfolio companies to support US national security. Currently, she has plans to get involved in the international startup community while traveling the world with her husband. Outside of work, you can find her reading, cooking, and coaching girls' lacrosse.

Mary Ellen Giffels ‘85 is a financial services digital transformation executive who is known for making large-scale change happen.  She graduated from Miami with a B.S. in Systems Analysis and went on to get an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.  Mary Ellen also holds an MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Monica.
