Miami Presents: Big Tech and Big Brother? The U.S. Government's Role in Technology Innovation
Should the U.S. government regulate artificial intelligence (AI)? While even AI company executives have begun to call for regulation, many of us wonder whether our government is up to the task. Join us as Molly Moran, associate lecturer in Emerging Technology in Business and Design, considers some of the federal government's responses to digital advances in the last decade. Molly, who in her previous career designed the first iPad app for a U.S. Secretary of State, will share some of the reasons why our government often struggles to keep pace with such innovations, and in spite of that, why she believes the government's role in American technology innovation is crucial.
Molly Moran has twenty years of industry experience in technology, design, and public service, including nine years working for four U.S. Secretaries of State on award-winning, high-profile technology and communications projects. Molly currently teaches courses on digital design, design thinking, public interest technology, and social issues in design.
