Join us for a conversation with Systems Analysis alumna, author, and entrepreneur, Denise Taylor ‘92 about her journey from the College of Engineering and Computing to realizing her entrepreneurial dream by founding Next Level Business Consulting.  Denise and current Mechanical Engineering student, Zainab Soumahoro ‘23 will discuss her 25+ year corporate career and her various leadership roles throughout.  As Denise calls herself “multi-passionate”, the two will also chat about a variety of topics, including the importance of mentorship and cultivating relationships, what it means to help women connect to their power to dream and achieve any goal they set for themselves, and much more.

Denise Taylor ‘92 is the founder of Next Level Business Consulting, a firm providing branding, website design, social media management & email marketing, and podcast production services.  Next Level is also the hub for all things DeniseTaylor.live, which includes mentoring, speaking, and events consulting.  She started her Next Level Business Consulting firm in 2016.

Her journey as an entrepreneur comes on the heels of a fantastic corporate career.  Denise’s 25+ year professional career includes leadership roles at Eli Lilly & Company, Caterpillar, Harnischfeger Corporation, Kohls Department Stores, Belk Department Stores, BMC - Building Materials Company, and ATD - American Tire Distributor.  In addition to her professional success, Denise has held countless leadership roles with non-profit organizations and churches/ministries as well. Denise assumed her role as a full-time Entrepreneur in April 2022.  What she loves most now is the opportunity to build brands, lift voices and mentor others.

Denise is the Executive Producer and host for two podcasts: Top 100 podcast, “Embrace Your Power” which launched in April of 2021, and Top 25 Podcast, “I’m The Good Thing”, which recently launched in November of 2022.  She has also written two books based on her podcasts - “I'm the Good Thing” (April 2020) and "Embrace Your Power & Go" (February 2022). Both books are available on Amazon and on her website www.DeniseTaylor.live.  Denise’s International Mentorship Program for Women, “Power Play”, helps women embrace their power to build a life they love.

Denise earned her Bachelor of Applied Science from Miami University in Oxford, OH, and her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Wisconsin - Madison in Madison, WI.  Denise values relationships, and her 25+ year marriage to the love of her life, Chuck Taylor, and two beautiful daughters, Chanise & Ciera, are the center of her joy.  Denise is often amazed by how long-lasting many of her professional & personal relationships have been with many still saying that she was the BEST boss, co-worker, or friend. She believes it was her willingness to grow personally that has helped her soar relationally.

Zainab Soumahoro ‘23 is a senior Mechanical Engineering major, minoring in Paper Science and Humanitarian Engineering from Cincinnati, Ohio. She was awarded a Cincinnati Scholar award for her academic excellence in high school, and has become heavily involved in many campus organizations during her time at Miami. Zainab works as a career assistant at the Center of Career Exploration Center on campus where she assists other students with resumes, cover letters, and development of professional skills, and is a Lead Building Manager at the Armstrong Student Center, where she oversees security, fire prevention, and training new building managers. Zainab has been involved in the National Society of Black Engineers since her freshman year, where she served as Senator, Public Relations Chair, and Vice President. She's part of Louise Stoke's Alliance of Minor Participation, a new Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. member, Bridges Scholar, a member of Love You Like A Sister, and currently one of the Student liaisons at the College of Engineering and Computing. Zainab's career goals are to work in a field where she can help people improve their quality of living and life while growing as a leader and person.
